DDR Memory Kit Roundup: Last of the Mohicans

Memory by Berry @ 2006-08-17

DDR is on its last legs with both AMD and Intel now supporting the newer DDR2 modules for their latest platforms. We present you with our most likely last DDR module review; two 2Gb high end memory kits from A-DATA and Team Group strive to help you get the most out of your Athlon 64 setup.

Sisoft Sandra 2007 ? Memory Bandwidth

What it there to say for this test? It?s one of the most used memory tests and its value is often discussed, but it should give you a nice comparison between the modules used, and the the influence of the timings.

Looking at the figures @200, you can clearly say : TIMINGS DO MATTER.

When looking @233, differences are marginal, so it is hard to make conclusions here (the new BIOS does seem to pay off here though)

@250 you start to see a comeback of the 2x 1Gb modules, as differences start to get smaller.
When going to 275, The CE5 is in the lead with the TCCD and UCCC trailing behind.

Cinebench 2003 ? Sciencemark2 - SuperPi

The MAXON Cinebench 2003 test does a predefined rendering, and uses around 185 Mb of system memory with a 100% processor load. Sciencemark?s Membench and AES test are used. Last but not least, the well known SuperPi benchmark, calculation Pi up to 1M and 32M digits after the comma.

Looking at the Cinebench results the differences are small when compared to the differences in timings. Sciencemark2 displays slightly larger gaps. SuperPi does benefit from tighter timings and higher speed, with noticeable decreases in calculation time.
