HEC Power Supply - An inside look of a PSU manufacturer

HEC/Compucase is a major OEM power supply and case manufacturer. Its business partners include Toshiba, Hitachi, LG Electronics and some of the well known brands in the PC enthusiasts market. In my last business trip to Southern China, HEC sent me an invitation to tour their plant located in Shenzhen, China.

With stricter regulations on certain materials, HEC is working hard to get ahead of the curve in compliance.

The drastic increase of power consumption from graphic card and processor in the last 18 months will mean much higher power from PC power supply together with Low noise; Green power and higher efficiency are just few of the immediate challenges. In doing so, HEC is working closely with Nation Cheng Kung University in Taiwan to meet these challenges, Mr. Bill Wang explained.

Some of the new products aimed at PC enthusiasts include 600-750 watts ATX unit utilizing 120 mm fan and fan speed control sensor; >87% efficiency factor in compliance with both EU and US markets.

HEC has not forgotten the demand from complete silence PC enthusiasts; fanless unit with 300-450 watt ATX at >87% efficiency is also in the planning horizon.

HEC plays an important role in supplying OEM market, with LCD screen size increases so does the power requirement from the AC adapters. HEC provides up to 180-watt adapter for this market segment. Another product worth mentioning is the Universal AC adapter for Laptop supplying up to 90-watt with adjustable voltage and plug for those who make a living traveling between US, EU and Asia.
