Introduction

Today we have a guest article written by two Dutch youngsters, Elmer (19) and Mark (20), both meet up regularly to have fun overclocking the latest hardware and building/modding the coolest cases.

Mark is active at the IT department in a college while Elmer is working in a popular computer shop.

Both have extensive experience in the overclocking and “modding” department; so when G.Skill started offering their product in the Netherlands Elmer and Mark were among the first to play around with these new sticks; The European division of G.Skill recently lent them a series of memory kits for them to test and what you’ll read on the following pages is their overclocking experience with each set.

Welcome to our little endeavor to try and sort through the massive DDR1 line-up of the new upcoming enthusiast memory company, G.Skill. We will take a closer look at 7 Dual Channel kits and test their overclockability.
The modules tested come from their “Extreme Series”, they also sell value products, but these are of less importance to the tweakers and overclockers out there, of course :-)

We have stressed the following kits to their maximum, using 5 different timings.

Tested Dual Channel Kits:

We were given two samples of some kits, to check for inconsistencies between these we tested both pairs.

  • PC3200GH 1GB (2x)
  • PC3200ZX 1GB (2x)
  • PC4400FC 1GB
  • PC4400LE 1GB (2x)
  • PC4800FF 1GB
  • PC4800FR 1GB (2x)
  • PC4800LA 512MB

    Tested timings:

We know that you like to see results, so performance numbers and useful titbits is what you'll encounter along the way ->
