Our test subject is a Maxtor 120GB PATA drive

First step is placing the drive inside and connecting your PATA/SATA and power supply cable

And adding foam around the hard drive

Then you apply the gel pads which increase heat transfer efficiency between the Heatlane and the hard drive, these pads come with a protective plastic sheet that needs to be removed before use. This step is not mentioned in the manual.

Now you place the aluminum cover and secure it with 10 screws (6 on top/4 on the sides) , but don’t overturn the screws since you are screwing them into rubber.

There is little room left for the PATA cable

The Silent Box has the same dimensions as the a standard CD/DVDrom drive so installation inside your case will not pose a problem

The mounting screws have small springs so you can secure the drive without over tightening the screws and possibly damaging the rubber
