There are products that we need to have, others would be nice to have or want to have. I believe products that can improve productivity resulting to better time management and lowering cost are the ones that we need to have. Which category does VisionTek Go Drive fall into? We shall find out.

Conclusion

R&R time came and went; an hour of game went by quickly. I leaned back on my seat and began thinking. It was not long ago I carried my Company issued laptop equipped with 340MB hard drive loaded with Lotus, Excel, WinWord and PowerPoint with annual budget, sales forecast, S&OP Presentation. If I did not want to carry that damn laptop my 4MB Lotus file would require the tedious maneuvers to merge the files to bring 4 3.5 disks home to work on. What would have happened if I had something like this; even at 16MB capacity? I definitely would have been more productive.

The first time I saw a Thumb drive was about two years ago with 64MB capacity and about the same time I noticed some universities required students to bring in external HDD to some classes for good reasons. With 1GB capacity, I am sure this Go Drive will be heck a lot better and easier to carry and operate than an external HDD for the same purpose.

I am pretty sure people in the technical field, sales, advertising, IT and, perhaps more than I could imagine would find this 1GB Go Drive a necessary tool. Granted, I have been using a 128MB Smartmedia card for the same purpose for quite sometime; with which I have to carry the card reader and often two Smartmedia cards.

Don’t forget; Go Drive provides security and password protection; zip functionality; Outlook Synchronizer function.

In Closing:

This product is a “need to have” when your job or task requires you to transfer/present/install data/graphic/software from one location to another with less fuss and time; and certain university class requirements. “A nice to have”; when you may no longer have to carry that laptop. “Want to have”; when you know you cannot install your favorite game into your in-law’s computer and you were bored to hell every time you go visit; this will solve your problem and have more family reunion time.

There is a rebate program going on if you plan on getting one.

  • More about VisionTek

I spoke with Mr. Jeff Hoeft, Product Manager of VisionTek after I received Go Drive within one business day since our initial contact a day before. I have to admit that we are only 18 miles apart.

Accordingly, VisionTek is focusing on high performance graphic cards partnering with ATI with more new products on the horizon aiming at the enthusiasts market and strong channel of distributions in Tier 1 and Tier 2; mass and e-commerce within United States. The Go Drive is currently being offered only at VisionTek website; marketing/sales plan to penetrate into Tier 1 and 2 is forthcoming and EU market expansion to follow.
