Testing and conclusion

In order to heat up my Maxtor 80Gb SATA drive, I moved a 20gb large folder from one partition to another and back. This action gave the disk a nice workout and although it’s no syntheitical benchmark equal, it does give you an idea of the performance of the Cool Drive when used in everyday situations. The temperature of the HDD was measured through the drives internal probe using MBM, here are my findings:

As you can see, mounting the hard disk drive in the Cool Drive 6 gives quite a temperature drop!! At idle the temperature drops by 18° C and when stressed 23° C! Really amazing results and probably will extend the drive's lifetime when used in hot environments, don’t you think?
Temperature is nearly not affected by the 4.4 cm build in fan, this might be due to the quite good airflow in my case.
