SX4 and TX4 in detail

SX4 and TX4

We received 2 controllers from Promise, the TX4 and the SX4. The main difference between these two is that the SX4 can handle RAID5 and the TX4 cannot.

Both controllers' packages contained the following items:
  • 4 S-ATA cables
  • 2 Molex cables each splitting up in 2 S-ATA power connectors
  • Manual
  • Diver Floppy
  • Driver/RAIDmanagement CD
  • Small Promise folder
  • The card itself ;)

As you can see, the SX4 (lower card) is much bigger as the TX4 (upper card). Notice the heatsink on the TX4 controller and the absence of any heatsink on the SX4. Also notice the SD-RAM slot on the SX4.
