Super Flower SF-609F Fan Controller

Modding/Small Mods by SidneyWong @ 2004-04-06

The question I raised to myself was; why do I need one? It would be like after jacking up my engine output only to put a fuel limiter so that it won?t go as fast. Well, not exactly, the rheobus acts as a throttle cable or linkage so that one could dial up or down the speed according to the traffic pattern. Now, I get it. Okay, I want one.

Installation & Testing

Installation and Testing:

Installation is pretty straight forward. Before we go there, let’s play with the colours by pressing down the “C” button.

Madshrimps (c)

Two more colours “purple” and “light blue” which are not easy to capture here, so I skip them
Pressing the “C” button again the colours rotate in about every 2 seconds
No, the color of the knobs cannot be changed; they stay in blue

By pressing down “F” and “T” together you are adjusting the max temp to set off the alarm; there are only 4 settings: 45, 55, 65 and 99C

The alarm will not be set off if there is no connection made at start of the system, i.e. default to 0 (zero) reading. This allows the user to use all, none or part of the four fans and probes.

Holding down “C” and press “T” to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit display

I went ahead to hook up the CPU probe at the bottom of the Stock HSF, second sensor as Case temp and the 3rd stuck on the VR (Variable Resistor Heatsink. The following readings explain all.

Madshrimps (c)
CPU Idle with Intel Stock HSF at 3,240 RPM No Chill Vent II

Madshrimps (c)
System Temp reading with side panel open

Madshrimps (c)
Temp at Rheostat
