SunBeamTech Rheobus

I was rather sceptic about how the SunBeamTech Rheobus would perform next to an Evercool and a Coolermaster product, but actually it comes out real nicely.

Package contains:
  • Bag of screws
  • 2x molex fan connectors
  • 1x 3 to 2 cable
  • 1x manual

The package is missing some crucial parts as they do not provide any extension cable to plug into the fan. Most of the fans I have only have a cable of 10-15 cm which is never enough to go from the back of the case to the back of the Rheobus.

The look of the controller is really nice. Full brushed aluminium with a very nice finish except for the small blue drawings that were not really needed and could have been left out.

The internal part of the controller is open unlike the Evercool but it isn’t that important as it inside the case and will probably never be pulled out again except for adding/removing fans.

The power provided to the fans comes from 1 molex, so all the LEDs are lit even when there is no fan attached to it.

The LEDs are very bright and give a very nice look to the fan controller. They go from blue to red but not progressively, they switch color at a certain point.

I encountered something worth mentioning: this Rheobus allows turning off the fan completely, which is a nice feature for certain occasions, but better not use it on you CPU’s fan because if you forget to put it back on that CPU will become one hot potato!

    Conclusion :

    Positive:
    Nice look
    Pretty sturdy
    Ability to turn off fans

    Negative:
Contra Points Ability to turn off fans
Contra Points No extension cables provided
