OCZ EL DDR PC-4200 Dual Channel

Memory by KeithSuppe @ 2004-01-17

Has this kit the potential to provide tight timings at lower FSB? While also providing head-room for the continuous rise in memory speeds? Find out in this review.

Cache Burst 32

Cache Burst 32:

OCZ has done some creative engineering especially where their PCB's are concerned. Given there's only so many IC's available which can perform at such high clock speeds, engineers must find other ways to optimize IC's extracting every MHz. A while back they literally pulled a rabbit out of Samsung's hat, and what was meant to run at Tortoise speed, ended up hopping along at 500MHz (DDR). OCZ took Samsung DDR333 TCB3 IC's and purportedly Lasered 7mil off the surface substrata Anandtech. Their 3700 Rev.2 is doing even better, Link.

I used the memory benchmark program Cache Burst for the results below. Beginning with a 225FSB tightening the timings to CAS-2-3-3-6 (2.85V) at 2700MHz;

Madshrimps (c)

Below I increased the FSB280, running SPD or CAS-2.5-4-4-8;

Madshrimps (c)

Finally I utilized the 320MHz Divider (5:4) 305FSB, running SPD again at 3665MHz;

Madshrimps (c)

To see what effect the memory may have in other applications,
I ran a series of UT2003 High Quality Benchmarks ->
