Conclusive Thoughts

The PalmSiren Dynamo 2 Combo flashlight from GlacialLight is an interesting product with multiple capabilities: wind-up torch, radio, siren and car mode mobile phone charger.

As we know, LEDs are much more economic than normal light bulbs. When doing about 160 rotations per minute (for a couple of minutes), we can use for about 17 minutes the flashlight in normal mode and for about 20 minutes if the flashlight is used in blinking mode.

For 2 minutes of winding operation, we do get about 8 to 12 minutes of radio operation; if we wind for about 2-3 minutes, we can obtain between 2 and 8 minutes of mobile phone battery recharge time, depending on the mobile’s phone battery!

If we are on a trip and its beginning to get dark, the 3 bright LEDs of the PalmSiren could help us find our way back or to avoid obstacles; if the mobile phone battery is discharged, we can also use the same device to charge it a little for doing a phone call to someone that can pick us up. While waiting, we can listen a little to the radio and to signal someone if we are in an out-of-reach location, we can use the integrated siren.

The only thing I did not like about this flashlight was that the winding handle does not stay very fixed on the back of the flashlights’ body. If it gets loose and we have the flashlight unprotected inside a bag, it might get damaged.
