Patriot Supersonic Rage Prime 1TB USB 3.2 Gen2 Flash Drive Review

Storage/Other by stefan @ 2021-10-11

Patriot was not joking to include the Supersonic Rage Prime as a member of their Extreme Performance drives, since it really delivers! The read/write performance has topped our charts, while the 1TB storage variant should be enough for most users when transferring data from one computer to another. The plastic capless design is durable and does not need any extra drivers to operate at the advertised speeds, the only condition would be that the computer comes with USB 3.2 Gen2 ports.

Packaging, A Closer Look

After trying out the Patriot Supersonic Rage Pro, it is time to look upon another drive from the Supersonic series, the high-performance Rage Prime with a total capacity of 1TB! The drive takes advantage of the USB 3.2 Gen2 (10Gb/s) standard, while Patriot is advertising read speeds up to 600MB/s.

The product is shipped inside a cardboard/plastic enclosure, through which we can look on how the drive really looks like. The manufacturer notes here the high read speed but also the fact that we are dealing with a capless design:

On the back side, Patriot has written the drive specifications in multiple languages, details regarding the Patriot offices around the world, links to online resources but also the product code name and serial number:

The drive comes with a white chassis, while the inner layer is black; the drive name is written in red, along with the total capacity:

The Patriot logo can be spotted on the opposite side:

The chassis is also provided with a hole for fitting a lanyard:

With the retractable design, the internal USB Type-A connector is well protected and the need for a cap is eliminated:

Here is how the drive does look when it is ready for use:
