CORSAIR K70 RGB TKL CHAMPION SERIES Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2021-07-26

The K70 RGB TKL CHAMPION SERIES keyboard packs most features from CORSAIR’s high-end offerings, including the AXON Hyper-Processing technology to obtain a maximum polling rate of 8000Hz. We have original CHERRY MX RGB SPEED switches which are linear as the REDs but activate faster and have a shorter travel distance, ideal for competitive tournaments, while the dedicated Tournament Switch disables the non-essential functions in order to be able to focus even more and score more points!

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

After testing out the SABRE RGB PRO FPS/MOBA mouse from the CORSAIR’s CHAMPION SERIES, now it’s time to look at the K70 RGB TKL mechanical gaming keyboard, which can be equipped with either CHERRY MX RGB Speed switches or the well-known CHERRY MX RGB RED.

The product includes a so-called “Tournament Mode”, which can be enabled by just flipping a switch and will immediately swap to a static backlighting mode and will disable accidental macro activations for professional players to focus better at the current session.

The K70 RGB TKL CHAMPION SERIES has arrived in a quite compact cardboard enclosure, sporting the usual CORSAIR color scheme:

On one of the box sides, we will spot the two transparent plastic seals but also a smaller photo of the keyboard:

Moving on, we will note the “Press the Advantage” CORSAIR saying:

The lateral area also presents us the technical specifications in multiple languages, together with drawings of the box contents. Here we will also note the product serial number and internal code name:

On the back side, CORSAIR has placed a more detailed photo of the keyboard, together with the main product features and system requirements. Here we will also note the type of switch our sample is equipped with (CHERRY MX SPEED RGB):

After lifting the top cover, we will discover the main product, together with some documentation:

The documentation is composed of a Warranty Guide leaflet, a Safety Information leaflet but also a Quick User Guide:

Inside the manual, we do have the main keyboard components explained, but also how to access functions in both hardware and software modes:

The keyboard and its accessories are further protected in transparent plastic layers:

As a hardware bundle, we will receive a keycap puller but also two separate sets of grippy, two-layer customized keycaps (WASD and QWERDF):

Here is also a lateral view of the custom keycap, which shows the two different components:
