Patriot Viper V770 RGB Gaming Keyboard Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2021-06-06

After the initial keyboard setup, we went ahead to test it in Outriders, Saints Row: The Third – Remastered but also DOOM Eternal and Tell Me Why: the keyboard was silent enough during more intense action scenes and very response, despite not using CHERRY MX original Red switches. This keyboard comes with plenty of dedicated configuration buttons (so no need to go right away to the software GUI), an analog audio pass-through, USB 2.0 pass-through, per-key RGB backlighting but also a magnetic wrist rest with independent backlight settings/integration.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

In this article we will look upon another interesting Viper Gaming peripheral which takes part of the “Expert” segment, meaning the high-end product area. This is a full-sized keyboard including some extra programmable keys and full RGB backlighting, coming in a pretty large cardboard enclosure:

The main keyboard highlights are described on the left side of the top cover:

There is a small opening on the right, in the area of the directional keys for taking a look at the keycaps:

Similar product information can be also spotted on side of the packaging:

A small product description is available as well:

The back includes information regarding the main product components, differences between Kailh switch types but also the full list of product specifications:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will get to see that the keyboard is further packed inside a thicker cardboard box, all-red:

The V770 is surrounded inside and covered on the top with a sponge-like material but is also wrapped inside a transparent plastic bag, in order to avoid scratches during transit:

Besides the main product, we will also get the wrist rest, an envelope with documentation but also a bit of hardware bundle:

The envelope also comes with a nice set of Viper stickers:

The Quick Start Guide simply shows how we should connect the keyboard to our computer:
