Patriot Memory Viper Steel Series DDR4 32GB 3200MHz Memory Kit Review

Memory by stefan @ 2020-11-10

The 32GB Viper Steel kit with its two memory modules does sport a modern design, without RGB lighting as we have seen with other models. These are made to be compatible with most AMD and Intel systems and should match the color scheme of a lot of gaming machines. While we could not squeeze any extra performance from the kit via overclocking by using safe voltages (up to 1.4V), this also means that the ICs are really accurately hand picked in the factory so they will only function error-free at the exact specifications mentioned by Patriot Memory.

Packaging, A Closer Look

Viper Steel memory kit from Patriot Memory has arrived inside a very compact cardboard enclosure, holding two 16GB modules clocked at 3200MHz; the manufacturer does note kit details on a sticker in the top right corner but also does show a photo of the modules so potential customers will know if it follows their build design lines or not:

On the back, Patriot Memory has included a small product description in multiple languages, but we will also learn about some online resources and the internal product code, along with its serial number:

A Viper Gaming case sticker is included in the box, which looks quite great!

The memory kit is enclosed inside a transparent plastic mold, so the modules will not suffer any damages during transit:

The Viper Steel kit does not include any RGB lighting but does include a very catchy design for the heatspreader:

The memory modules do sport a height of 44mm, so should not cause clearance issues after installing the CPU cooler. The heatspreader does come with a matte finish, while the color is gunmetal grey:

Interesting design patterns can be spotted to the left and right of the Viper logo:

The other side of the heat radiator does offer the same design elements, but here we will also spot a small sticker with the module code name and its CAS16 latency, but also the 1.35V operating voltage:

On the top area of the module, we will notice a black interposer, which has printed a white Viper logo, similar to the one we have found on the RGB model:
