PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5600XT Video Card Review

Videocards/VGA Reviews by stefan @ 2020-05-07

With the RX 5600XT Red Dragon, PowerColor have demonstrated that it is possible to use a proven, 2-fan cooling system which occupies only two slots in order to cool the GPU properly, but also run the memory at a higher frequency of 1750MHz. Even if the Base clock is set lower than the XFX card, in Boost we are seeing about the same maximum frequency and this fact basically explains why the Red Dragon wins in most performance tests.

For this PCB design, a PCIe 8-pin connector is just enough for supplying extra juice to the card and we have noted that the card remains silent even during long stress periods. With the lower memory quantity versus the RX5700 series, we will only recommend using it at FHD with maxed out details and you will get nice FPS numbers in most gaming titles. Playing at 1440P is also possible, but if you enable too much detail, the memory buffer on the card will obviously fill up, creating unwanted stuttering when system memory will be used as well.

At the moment of the review, the card can be found online for about 295 Euros, a fair price considering the benefits.
