CORSAIR HS60 PRO SURROUND Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2019-11-05

After going through the simple iCUE setup, we started listening to multiple podcasts, YouTube music clips, watched an action movie but also played quite a bit of Need for Speed 2015: thanks to the 50mm neodymium drivers, the sound quality is great, while the bass does not seem to distort even at higher volume levels. We really enjoyed how the engines were sounding in NFS and if you do enable the Bass Boost profile the immersion is even better. After wearing the headset for over one hour, we have seen the benefits of the increased comfort over the regular HS60, so this is not only marketing talk.

A Closer Look Part II

The HS60 PRO is supplied with an USB sound card, that helps providing 7.1 surround sound on computers:

The frontal area of the sound card does hold a single combo audio jack:

On the bottom of the card we will find the serial number along with other modifiers:

We are also offered a microphone windscreen, for eliminating noises such as breathing:

The unidirectional microphone is removable, adjustable and features a frequency response between 100Hz and 10kHz, with a sensitivity of -40 dB:

The main thing you will notice when comparing directly with the HS60 will be the increased thickness of the memory foam padding but also a smoother leatherette cover; the yellow accents look very interesting on the black surfaces:

The exterior of the cups does feature a black mesh with a central CORSAIR logo; this is surrounded by a yellow frame that highlights the entire assembly:

The left cup comes with the jack for plugging the detachable microphone; this interface is provided with a small rubber cover, in order to avoid accumulation of dust inside the port:
