SteelSeries Sensei Ten Gaming Mouse Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2019-10-16

After quite a bit of gaming in Diablo III, Rage 2 and Quake: Champions, the mouse continued to feel very comfortable thanks to the shape we also loved from the original Sensei; we did use it on our gaming system that sports a 1440P display, but also on the test system that is linked to a 4K TV and after adjusting the sensitivity, the tracking was smooth as butter. The left/right click mechanical buttons have a nice feel to it when actuated and are rated for 60 million keypresses which is quite a lot compared to other mainstream mice. With this mouse we are not getting a braided USB cable, but the rubber material is quite solid and should last for quite a while.

Packaging, A Closer Look

In order to celebrate one of the iconic gaming mice, the Sensei, SteelSeries did launch the Ten version, named suggestively because ten years have passed since the first model appeared on the market. This model does retain the previous shape we all have been accustomed with and does also contain improvements under the hood, of course!

The product is shipped inside a compact cardboard enclosure, that highlights the ambidextrous shape of the product, along with some other features:

On the left side of the box, we will also get to see a lateral view of the mouse, with its programmable buttons:

The opposite area gives the user an insight over the technical specifications:

The back side does explain the product highlights in more detail:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will get to see an all-orange box, with the “Bow to the Master” writing on top:

In order to avoid damages during transit, the inside contents are protected with an additional foam layer:

Besides the mouse, SteelSeries has also included a small Product Information Guide, in multiple languages:

It describes the setup procedure, the main product components but also the address where to go and download the SteelSeries Engine utility for even more customization:

As expected, the Sensei Ten does sport a very familiar look, weights about 92g, comes with a length of 126mm, width of 63mm in the front, 68mm in the back and a total of 39mm height. What we do like about this particular model is that it does not feature a rubberized layer, but a textured high-grade polymer for extended durability:

In the front we have the scroll wheel, one DPI LED but also the DPI selector button:
