Patriot Memory Signature Line Premium DDR4 16GB (2 x 8GB) 2666MHz Kit Review

RAM has decreased quite a bit in price and mainstream kits are now more affordable than ever! The Patriot Memory Signature Line Premium is one of the solid choices you could take into account if you are not interested in RGB kits and are building or upgrading a system with a good price/performance ratio. The kit does not have XMP pre-programmed profiles but is compatible with most platforms and thanks to the low-profile heatspreader you won’t have any issues when using beefier CPU heatsinks or smaller enclosures.

Packaging, A Closer Look

Patriot Memory has recently released a new series of DDR4 memory kits, but this time aimed at the mainstream crowd, with capacities up to 32GB (2x16GB) and good pricing. Do not expect stellar CAS latencies from these, but the product quality remains the same, at high standards, with pre-tested ICs, so installation will be hassle-free! The kits are offered in a transparent plastic packaging, with a cardboard cover that explains the total memory quantity, the fact that we are dealing with a dual-channel kit, but also the rated speed; these have no XMP profiles pre-baked, but use compatible JEDEC-qualified settings:

The back side of the packaging does not feature additional cardboard, but we can take a look directly at the design of the modules:

On the leaflet, Patriot Memory informs the user of the technical support email address, the default voltages used depending on the RAM type but also some extra information regarding the office locations:

The removal of the modules from their packaging is a pretty straight-forward process:

For this RAM series, Patriot has went with slim and low-height heatspreaders, in order to ensure maximum compatibility with all cases and cooling systems; the Patriot logo is present in white, which looks quite nice!

The same heatsink design is present on the opposite side as well, but this time we have a small sticker attached as well, with the product serial number, internal code name, its rated speed but also the CAS latency and recommended operating voltage:

On the top area of the modules we have some ventilation areas available, which look nice overall; no RGB LEDs here though!

Let’s mount these on our test system and see how they perform:
