The round edges of the chassis do make the U12+ easy to hold in the pocket and incorporates a 6-inch Super LCD display; the 80.3% screen to body ratio is an improvement over the U11+. The 1440x2880 screen has a 18:9 ratio (~537 ppi density) and features Gorilla Glass 3 protection:
The notch is not present on the U12+ and this is a great design choice :); the dual 8MP selfie cameras can be spotted here, together with the speaker, a microphone port and proximity sensors. HTC did not omit to include a status LED, that is quite handy for monitoring different apps or the battery charge status:
Another microphone can be spotted on the bottom area of the terminal, together with the USB-C port and the BoomSound speaker port:
One unique feature of the U12+ is the inclusion of pressure sensors for the Volume controls and Power/Sleep buttons. There are no moving parts here and the buttons are made of aluminum as the surrounding frame:
The Power button has a different texture to it, for an easier identification:
The rest of the frame is pressure-sensitive as well, a feature of the Edge Sense 2.0:
We can observe the SIM tray, which can incorporate two nanoSIM cards or one nanoSIM and one microSDXC card for storage expansion:
On the top we will find another microphone port:
The back glass of the U12+ looks simply awesome and is quite reflective; at the same time, it is prone to collecting fingerprints so if you won’t use it with a case, you will need to wipe the surface quite frequently:
