CHERRY KC 6000 Slim Keyboard Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2018-07-24

The new KC 6000 Slim keyboard does come with a premium look and is ideal for people that enjoy laptop-style keys, even when working with desktops. The SX CHERRY switches are silent and offer a low-key travel of just about 2.5mm; these are rated for 10 million keypresses so we would recommend the keyboard for productivity work as well.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

Not long ago, we have received in our test lab the KC 6000 Slim “ultra-flat” keyboard from CHERRY that uses their SX switches. You will get the look and feel of regular scissor-style rubber dome switches found with laptop keyboards and people owning desktops will be able to enjoy the same type of keys.

KC 6000 Slim has arrived inside a medium-sized cardboard enclosure that shows a photo of the keyboard in operation:

On the top cover, the manufacturer does also mention the keyboard layout; this model is also available with an USA layout, Switzerland, Spain, Pan Nordic, German or France layouts:

By lifting the top box cover, we will get to see that the KC 6000 Slim is also wrapped inside a transparent plastic bag, in order to avoid scratches or other damages:

CHERRY KC 6000 Slim is available in black or silver, is surprisingly light (about 660g) and features a sturdy construction by integrating a metal plate:

The CHERRY SX switches are rated for 10 million keypresses and require 65cN of actuation force; the key travel is just 2.5mm. The Caps Lock key is provided with a small white LED:
