CORSAIR HS70 Wireless Surround Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2018-05-31

As you might have suspected, since we are dealing with the exact same drivers and software drivers/application as the HS60, the same sound signature is present when talking about the wireless HS70. With this model, CORSAIR has managed to offer a low-cost variant to the VOID PRO model, which is good for both PC and console gamers. The microphone can be easily detached from the HS70 chassis, is Discord Certified, noise-cancelling and is able to offer clear and accurate communication, as we have noted during our Skype test conference.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

The latest headset from the CORSAIR HS series is the HS70 Wireless model, which is able to pick up all the good stuff from the HS60 and also integrate wireless capabilities. The low-latency 2.4GHz wireless signal is advertised to be able to deliver on a distance up to 12 meters, we’ve got virtual 7.1 surround thanks to the supplied software, but is also plug-and-play compatible with Sony’s Playstation 4 console. The unit can be picked up in either “Carbon” or “White” themes, while the packaging does feature a similar box art as we have seen before:

CORSAIR also wants to inform us on the long usage time from a single charge (up to 16 hours):

On one of the packaging sides, we get to learn that in order to be able to access all the headset features, we should install the Corsair Utility Engine:

We will also learn of the package contents:

The product main components are explained on the back side of the packaging:

After unsealing the box, we will get to see the documentation, which is composed of the Quick Start Guide, a Safety & Compliance Information leaflet, a Warranty Guide but also a Recycling information leaflet:

The HS70 headset, along with its hardware bundle are held inside a black plastic mold:

Speaking of the hardware bundle, we will receive the USB charging cable, the Wi-Fi dongle, but also the removable microphone:

Here is a close-up on the charging cable connectors; these are not proprietary so we are free to use cables from other devices as well, if the original one is not nearby:
