Xiaomi Mi 5X 32GB Smartphone Review

Mobile/Smart Phones by stefan @ 2018-02-06

The Xiaomi Mi 5X has impressed us quite a bit in terms of build quality, performance, camera quality, GPS locking speed, accuracy and also sports a decent battery life. This model is a 5.5’’ phablet with a Full HD resolution screen and runs the latest MIUI 9.2 version; the same hardware is also sold with a different name “Mi A1” under the Android One software, if you do prefer a clean, non-skinned Android experience. GearBest lends a helping hand in order to avoid Customs hassles for European customers, so they have this model as ready to ship from their EU warehouse.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

Just recently we have resumed our cooperation with the well-known GearBest online shop, in order to review one of the latest Xiaomi smartphones, and to be more exact, the Mi 5X model. This particular mainstream smartphone was shipped inside a fully-sealed white cardboard enclosure; the top cover does also feature an orange Mi logo:

The manufacturer did also highlight here the total quantity of RAM, along with the internal storage of the version we are reviewing; if you check out other websites for more information, you will find out that the 64GB SKU is also available for purchase:

The lateral sides of the packaging do contain the product name in Chinese:

On the bottom area, we will get to see the product technical specifications (in Chinese language), along with the product serial number but also the IMEI for each SIM slot:

After removing the top cover, we will get to see the main product, which sits on the top layer:

The accessory box is located just underneath:

The bundle is quite simple and does contain the SIM card tray ejector, the USB cable, one small manual but also the USB charger:

The SIM card tray ejector has a similar design to the one we have seen with other smartphones in the past:

The Mi 5X model does come with an USB Type-C charging/data transfer cable; this particular model does not come with Quick Charge capabilities, even if the internal SoC does support it:

On the bottom layer of the compact USB charger, we can see the output power rating (5V at 2A):
