Cooling/VGA & Other Cooling by stefan @ 2018-01-28

The new ML PRO RGB series of fans from CORSAIR are combining performance with silence, while creating a nice LED light show inside your case via the unified Link software. If you are purchasing one of the fan packs, you will also receive the RGB lighting hub which supports up to six fans, along with the Lighting Node PRO module; the connectivity cables are also supplied, so you only have to connect the items as instructed inside the manual and enjoy the finished setup.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

CORSAIR has spent a lot of time lately researching better case fan technologies, in order to maintain a high cooling performance level and at the same time keep the noise levels as low as possible. Back in 2016, we have had the first revision of their ML fans that do sport Magnetic Levitation Bearings and a custom rotor design; the lack of ball bearings means that there is much less friction so the noise is minimized while the fan is operating at higher rotational speeds. Recently, the manufacturer has also released the RGB versions of these fans, which can come in standalone or multiple fan packs:

First, we will get to take a look at the ML120 PRO RGB 3-fan pack, which is shipped inside a compact cardboard enclosure:

On the back side of the packaging, CORSAIR does reveal the main product highlights, along with the technical specifications:

Here, we can note the PWM-controlled fan speeds, which can go from 400 up to 1600 RPM (+/- 10%), the airflow that is rated at 47.3 cfm, but also the static pressure of 1.78 mm-H20:

Inside, we will get to see the three fans, which have individual cardboard cases, but also a separate enclosure with the bundle:

In more detail, we are receiving an USB cable, one RGB cable, a RGB lighting hub, one Lighting Node PRO, two cable ties but also screws for mounting each fan to the case:

The RGB lighting hub is similar to the one we have seen along with the HD fan set and allows no less than six fans connected to it:

This lighting hub needs to be further connected to the Lighting Node PRO in order to operate properly, via a separate cable:
