Patriot Memory Viper 4 Series DDR4 32GB 3000MHz Memory Kit Review

Memory by stefan @ 2017-11-19

The Viper 4 Series DDR4 32GB 3000MHz kit from Patriot Memory is not as flashy as other RGB offerings we have tested from other manufacturers, but comes with a good quality aluminum heat spreader for fast heat dissipation, while using the airflow inside the computer case. 32GB of RAM should be enough for most todays’ games and productivity applications, while most systems should be able to run this kit at the stock speeds without issues, thanks to the pre-programmed XMP 2.0 profile.

The pre-programmed timings and frequencies can be also found by using AIDA64:

Patriot Memory has certified this piece of kit at 3000MHz with latencies of 16-16-16-36, while running at 1.35V. As with every kit we have tried out in the past, we have also went ahead and overclocked it further, first to 3200MHz; the system started the first boot stages fine, but we shortly ended up with a blue screen. We could not get the system stable at 3200MHz even after relaxing the timings, so we did go one step down at 3100MHz; at this frequency, with the 17-17-17-38 timings while retaining the stock voltage, we have obtained a fully stable environment.

Validation

Starting with the JEDEC 2133MHz, we did benchmark the RAM step-by-step up to 3100MHz, in order for you to spot the performance differences.
