Cooler Master MasterMouse S Gaming Mouse Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2017-07-18

We have spent some time with the MasterMouse S while testing it in productivity work but also games, which did include Black Desert Online, Mafia III, Kritika Online and Secret World Legends. The mouse did feel very comfortable during use but regarding the grip modes Cooler Master is mentioning (Palm & Claw), we have only seen the Claw grip usable given the size of the mouse. The Palm grip should only work if you have small hands, but in most cases, it is out of the question. The cable solution coming with this particular model is very sturdy but this fact also implies that it is a little bit rigid so we needed some time to get accustomed with it.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

For pleasing the less pretentious mainstream crowd, but still maintain a high performance level and good quality components, Cooler Master has released a follow-up to their successful MasterMouse Pro L which is baptized MasterMouse S. This particular model does come with smaller dimensions of 117 x 63.5 x 38 (mm) and is suitable for both palm and claw grips (depending on the size of the hand), while packing a PWM3330 optical sensor from Pixart.

MasterMouse S is shipped inside a small cardboard enclosure and right from the top area the manufacturer does list the main highlights such as the fact that its shape is ambidextrous and features 16.7 million colors for its RGB illumination in two different areas:

On one of the box sides, Cooler Master has written a very short product description, in many different languages:

A lateral view of the mouse in operation is present on the opposite side:

If we would like to take a look on the back side, we will discover a more comprehensive list of product features, also in Multilanguage:

The top cover of the packaging opens up like a book, in order to reveal the mouse, along with some more technical specifications:

By removing the seals, we are able to check the inside contents; the manufacturer has included a documentation leaflet, while the mouse does sit fixed inside a two-piece plastic enclosure:

The leaflet informs us on the main product interfaces, but also the product features:

As we have seen before with the Cooler Master MasterMouse Pro L, the S variant does feature a Gun Black color scheme and is accompanied by a 1.8m cable:
