Thecus N4810 High-Value 4-bay NAS Review

The N4810 High-Value 4-bay NAS from Thecus does feature low-power consumption thanks to the Intel Celeron N3160 Quad-Core SoC and comes equipped with 4GB of RAM DDR3L. The RAM is expandable to 8GB, we do have a frontal display with buttons for easy access, plenty of USB ports for connecting extra storage and/or printers, HDMI output with support up to 4K and can also perform 4K playback thanks to the hardware decoding capabilities of the SoC.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

In this article we will concentrate our attention upon another Linux-based NAS from Thecus, and to be more exact the 4-bay N4810. The unit does come equipped with the Intel Celeron N3160 Quad-Core SoC, 4GB of DDR3L RAM, HDMI interface for video output, extra USBs for connecting additional storage and more! The product does ship inside a Thecus-themed cardboard enclosure, with a plastic handle for easy manipulation:

 

 

 

On the frontal area of the box, Thecus does advertise the HDMI feature of the NAS, along with some other highlights:

 

 

 

 

Some of the main product functions are also explained on the box; the N4810 NAS was designed to run the latest version of the ThecusOS (now 7.0):

 

 

 

In the Specifications area, the manufacturer has chosen to go with pictograms, and we can say the same thing about the Package contents list:

 

 

 

After removing the top cover, we will get to see a lot of foam material inside, for additional protection, while the bundle cardboard enclosure is placed in the middle:

 

 

 

 

Speaking of the bundle, we get one power brick, the power lead, one LAN cable, four sets of lock keys, some cable ties but also documentation:

 

 

 

The power brick was manufactured by Asian Power Devices Inc. and is rated on the output as 19V at 4.74A:
