IQI i3 Android Smartwatch Review

The quality of the Chinese standalone smartwatches has increased quite a bit and we are quite pleased with the appearance, build quality and features of the IQI i3 model. The integrated 380mAh battery can only supply enough power for a day or a day and a half (depending on the usage pattern) and the main culprit for this is the AMOLED 400x400 display. The watch does offer entry-level health monitoring stats such as a pedometer, heart rate sensor and can be successfully used as a remote for Bluetooth headsets while running or performing other fitness activities. Thanks to a fully-fledged Android OS, we can install plenty of other applications from the store, only that not all do support the round screen aspect of the i3.

A Closer Look Part II

On the back side of the unit, we can spot a separate compartment secured by two small screws, the heartrate sensor but also the USB gold-plated contacts:

The right side of the watch does come with the only physical button, also used for turning the watch on or off, accessing the task manager, boot menu and so on:

Also on this side, we do have a small hole for the microphone:

On the left side though, we will get to see the loudspeaker grill:

If we do remove the plastic cover from the back compartment, we will be able to spot the SIM card tray, which operates with nanoSIM format; no extra microSDHC card slot can be installed here:

After powering up the smartwatch for the first time, the introduction Android logo animation will appear:

The setup procedure will ask for the system language:

In order to calibrate properly the fitness features of the watch, we do have to enter the next details accurately:

The main watch face will then appear so the interface will be ready to use; the colors are really nice thanks to the AMOLED display with a 400x400 resolution:
