Creative Sound Blaster Roar 2 Review

Audio/Speakers&Amps by stefan @ 2016-09-06

With its experience from the past, Creative has managed to build an excellent multi-function device which can be also used in almost any situation where audio content is involved. We’ve got a built-in voice recorder, a built-in MP3 player, one speakerphone, a battery bank and an USB Sound Blaster incorporated with the Roar 2, which does also have many other configuration options available via software.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

The next product we are going to test from Creative is not your run-off-the-mill Bluetooth Wireless Speaker, but it is a multi-function product: Built-in MP3 Player, Built-in Voice Recorder, Speakerphone, Battery Bank but also can act as an USB Sound Blaster. Sound Blaster Roar 2 is its name and for the mentioned functions it is quite small (51 x 188 x 109 mm) and features no less than five drivers, two of which are passive radiators. The product is shipped inside a medium-sized cardboard enclosure, with a photo of the Roar 2 on top:

A Sound Blaster Roar 2 product description can be found on the back side, which does also include the main product features along with the package contents list:

After unsealing the box and lifting the top cover, we will get to see the product along with its bundle and also the documentation, placed in a separate transparent plastic bag:

To be more exact, in the plastic bag we will receive Declaration of Conformity for the Sound Blaster Roar 2, one, a Warranty Support document, a Quick Start Guide, the Safety and Regulatory Information leaflet, rubber feet installation procedure leaflet but also a fully-fledged Installation and Operation guide. The adhesive rubber feet are also included in the same bag:

Despite the fact that we are talking about a Quick Guide, Creative made sure to include all the necessary details with written instructions and photos:

It is recommended though to also check out the full manual before first interaction:

The hardware bundle is composed of an USB cable (used for both charging the Roar 2 but also for charging smartphones), the power adapter and also different plugs for the adapter:
