Razer Leviathan Mini Speaker Review

Audio/Speakers&Amps by stefan @ 2016-08-06

Razer Leviathan Mini is the portable version of their previous Leviathan sound bar which did also feature a subwoofer and packs two 12W drivers, Bluetooth 4.0 technology, NFC and a 2600mAH rechargeable Li-Ion battery. The mini-system can deliver quite a bit of punch without distortion, making it ideal for playing music outside or inside our house; the Combo Play functionality still needs a bit of bug fixing since delays will appear between audio and video, but if we do play regular audio on radio or music albums this should not be an issue. The Mini can be also used for taking calls thanks to its integrated microphone with devices which support Bluetooth Hands-Free Profiles (HFP 1.5).

A Closer Look Part III

The adapter was manufactured by Kuantech Co. Ltd. for Razer and is able to supply on the output 5V at 2.5A:

With the package we will also receive a gold-plated stereo cable:

A small Razer-branded carry bag is not missing from the offered bundle:

The all-black color theme of the Leviathan Mini makes it fit with most color schemes around it; the build quality is top notch and on the top area we’ve got the Volume +/- buttons, but also a circular, LED-lit button for Mute but also for pairing two devices in Stereo mode (Combo Play), can control playback and assists during calls:

The Leviathan mini features metallic grills on both front and back, and houses two 12W speakers with a frequency response between 20 Hz and 20 KHz, while the passive radiators are meant to enhance low frequencies. A cool silver Razer logo is placed right in the middle:

The NFC-enabled device permits easy Bluetooth pairing by just starting the Leviathan Mini pairing mode and touching the speaker (left side) with the other NFC audio source:

The right side of the speaker does come with more interfaces; here we do have the Power On/Off button which does light up green while the device is operating and red during battery recharge. A 3.5mm analog jack but also one USB port can be also found here, along with a microphone port:

A secondary microphone port can be spotted on the top of the portable speaker:

A large rubber foot can be observed on the bottom area of the Leviathan Mini, along with the product serial number and the power rating:
