Lexar JumpDrive M20c USB Type-C Flash Drive Review

Storage/Other by stefan @ 2016-03-04

The reversible design of the M20c is pretty handy when transferring a lot of data between devices and the product is available with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. When comparing with the previous USB Type-C drive, we have got better performances especially in the writes area, now nearing 40MB/s. Lexar backs the drive with a three-year limited warranty, is compatible with both PC and MAC systems, but also backwards compatible with older USB 2.0 devices.

Packaging, A Closer Look

The first USB Type-C flash drive we have checked out was from Silicon Power and was able to offer very good speeds read-wise but the writes were possible at only about 11MB/s. In this article we will check out what Lexar has in store for us incorporating this standard, and to be more exact we will talk about the M20c JumpDrive. The product is offered in a blister packaging so it does take very little space. Here, the manufacturer will present us the speed rating and will also mention that the product will be compatible with the latest devices because of its USB Type-C connection:

On the back side, Lexar has included some words on warranty in different languages:

The product has a similar housing to the Jumpdrive M20 we have tested a bit earlier, but with a different color scheme. Depending on how we use the plastic slider, we can either USB interface or keep them both protected during travel; on the top, Lexar has also written the total available capacity:

On the back we will get to see some extra serial numbers; the product is also provided with a key ring loop, so we can attach it to a lanyard or a keychain with ease:

Thanks to the new USB 3.0 Type-C connector which sports a reversible design, we can plug it in either way:

A full-sized USB connector is available on the other side for general compatibility purposes:

As we have mentioned before, it is easy to keep both connectors protected during travel:
