SteelSeries Siberia 200 Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2016-01-01

After testing the Siberia 200 headset along with the Sound Blaster ZxR while watching movies, some TV shows but also some games, we were happy with the fact that the output is clear, without relying heavily on lower frequencies as some gaming headsets do, while the stereo separation is clearly noticeable, which helps mostly in FPS games. As we have realized from doing some Skype conferences and Mic tests, the quality of it is quite average so if you do a lot of Twitch streaming and want the people on the other end to hear you in pristine conditions, we would like to say that Siberia 650 with noise suppression capabilities should be a better choice.

A Closer Look Contd.

Also, if we take a closer look we will get to see the audio channels marked:

An open soundscape design can be seen when looking at an angle, and this is one of the main differences when comparing with the v2:

While the earpads look thin at first, they do a good job placing themselves around the ear lobe so the comfort is optimal; Siberia 200 comes with 50mm drivers which sport a frequency response of 10 to 28000Hz and sensitivity of 112dB:

With the left cup we will get to see a retractable microphone, which is always on but can be turned off at will with the in-line remote; the microphone is advertised with a frequency response between 50 and 16000Hz, sensitivity of -38dB and impedance of 2200 Ohm:

On the top side of the headband we will get to see another subtle SteelSeries logo:

As we have mentioned before, a small in-line remote is offered for additional functions; one of them is Mic mute:

A Volume rocker is also available on the side:

The 1.8m non-tangle cable has a rubberized texture to it and it ends up with two connectors (one for Mic and one for the headphones):

If needed, the adapter can be attached quite easily:
