Corsair VOID Stereo Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2015-11-14

While the VOID Stereo is compatible with a wide selection of devices which can output analog audio signal, the quality of the sound is also often influenced by the source. We have connected the headset to our trusty Sound Blaster ZxR sound card and watched some movies, several YouTube clips but also some of the latest TV Shows like Gotham, Grimm, The Walking Dead and so on. The main conclusion is that with the right sound card settings and enhancements, the Stereo is going to sound pretty good but this is also thanks to the 50mm-large Neodymium drivers it incorporates that are also used on the more expensive models. Talking about the microphone, if the sound card from our setup does not add additional noise to the signal as in our test system, it will sound crystal clear and basically produce the same results as with the VOID Wireless. During our Skype test calls for several hours, the person on the other end of the line confirmed that we were being heard just fine.

Packaging, A Closer Look

The second product from the VOID Gaming headset we are going to take a look at is the Stereo variant, which is also the cheapest from the three and its main advantage is the fact that it can be plugged to any device which has an analog stereo output. The product is shipped inside a similar cardboard enclosure as the Wireless model, which shows some of the product main features as icons in the lower section; a small plastic window is also provided so we can take a look at half of the headset without unsealing the box:

We will learn from the lateral sides what to those icons mean in more detail:

All is clearer is we turn the box on the opposite side, which has the headset components explained in multiple languages, but we will also get to see some of the technical specifications:

As with the Wireless model, inside we have a secondary yellow-colored protective enclosure which holds the headset along with its bundle:

As documentation we do have a warranty guide along with a declaration of conformity, in multiple languages:

Since it is from the same VOID series, the Stereo model follows the design lines which we have also seen with the previous, flagship model which is a combination between metal and plastic for the chassis in order to have a durable product, but at the lowest weight possible in order to offer good comfort levels:

The headset cups can rotate in order to help with positioning on different head shapes:

A quick look at the exterior of the right cup reveals the Corsair Gaming logo on a shiny black plastic finish:

The material which gets around our ear helix is made of microfiber-wrapped memory foam, which provides additional comfort; in the middle Corsair has used 50mm neodymium drivers in order to offer a good experience all-around:
