Silicon Power has been in the storage media business since 2003 and since this moment we have reviewed plenty of devices from them like card readers, flash memory cards, USB Flash Drives, external USB drives and more. Their devices are usually more affordable than other brands and they do not make compromises regarding quality. The product we are going to review today is a 240GB from the Slim S80 series, which is also available in 120GB, 480GB and 960GB versions; it comes in a sealed blister packaging along with a small cardboard leaflet:
On the back side of the packaging we are shown a small comparison regarding transfer speeds versus regular HDDs; for this specific model, Silicon Power advertises about 550MB/s for reads and 500MB/s for writes but also mentions on their website that these speeds may vary depending on the platform we are using:
On the inside area of the leaflet, we will get installation instructions for notebooks along with some BIOS configuration steps:
The Slim S80 SSD in its 240GB version we have received seems to drop quite a bit of bundle which was present with the previous release: Installation Guide, desktop mounting plate, plastic spacer and mounting screws. Probably Silicon Power has decided to decrease the price even further for this model and this was the way to go. The product comes with a black metallic housing and on the top area we will be able to see a sticker with the drive model, capacity and also a serial number:
On the bottom area we do not have any extra information, but we can clearly see the warranty sticker:
