Corsair VOID Wireless Dolby 7.1 Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2015-09-30

With the VOID Wireless, we are getting quite a bit of improvements regarding product comfort, LED lighting system and software configuration. Corsair has added the RGB system for extra eye candy, but we have found more useful the two LEDs near the MIC which light up in order to signal different product statuses. The two 50mm drivers are able to deliver good gaming-grade quality sound and we found the microphone fidelity about the same as on the Vengeance 2100 and this is not a bad thing since that one impressed us positively too.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

Corsair is not standing still so they have recently released a new series of headsets for their Gaming series of peripherals. The new family is composed of the VOID Stereo which sports universal compatibility with PCs, consoles and mobile; then we have the VOID USB in two different colors with feature easy one-cable connection with built-in Dolby 7.1 and the high-end model also comes in two different colors and is baptized VOID Wireless. The yellow/black version of the Wireless has quite a catchy look and Corsair has named it Special Edition – YellowJacket. Our sample is the regular, all-black one and its main feature is the 2.4GHz connection for extra freedom and very accurate Dolby 7.1. Some of the main product features are listed on the top area of the external packaging layer:

On one of the box sides, Corsair has placed a more extensive list of product features, which are described in multiple languages:

The opposite area comes with the rest of the product goodies explained like 2.4GHz connection, Dolby 7.1, RGB configurable lighting, InfoMic Feature or CUE Control:

The main product components are described on the back side, along with the technical specifications:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will end up with a separate cardboard enclosure in yellow color, which protects the main product:

The VOID Wireless headset is also accompanied by its bundle, which is composed of the USB cable and USB transmitter/receiver, the Quick Guide, a Safety Leaflet, the Environment Protection Leaflet, but also a Warranty Guide:

The Quick Guide tells us in more details with detailed drawings how to operate the product:

The 1.5m USB cable is used for charging the headset and features a custom color and design:

The same yellow/black color scheme can be found with the USB dongle, which looks like a bigger USB Flash Drive; on the top the manufacturer has placed the logo along with a white activity LED:

On the back side we get to see a sticker with product IDs and the serial number:
