Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

Not long ago, SteelSeries have launched their headset flagship, which was baptized Siberia Elite, which featured large ear pads, an interesting layout, cool lighting settings but also an optional sound card; the cabling was provided so the product could be used with both PCs but also gadgets like tablets or smartphones and other electronics which feature the 3.5mm headset jack to connect on analog. The Prism variant comes as a revision of the original, which fixes the issues Elite had, thanks to the feedback from the end users. The Elite Prism headset is shipped inside a quite large cardboard box, with a photo of the product in operation on top:

The supported platforms are listed in the upper right corner, along with the Dolby Pro Logic IIx technology logo, which is supported when paired with the supplied sound card on USB:

If we want to learn more about the product and its main components, we have to switch the box on the other side:

Nearby, we can also check out the technical specifications:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will end up with a black box, which features the SteelSeries logo in the middle:

By lifting the top cover, we will see that the headset is secured inside a black plastic mold:

Under it we have the documentation, along with a separate compartment with the bundle:

The manual will show us how to get things going depending on the platform we are using and we will also receive a nice case sticker:

The extra cables along with the sound card are packed inside separate plastic bags:

Let’s take a look a little at the sound card; this one is pretty compact and seems to share the exact design with the previous model which shipped with the Elite; on its casing we will get to see a small sticker which informs us to download the latest software from the manufacturers’ website in order to benefit from the extra features:
