KingFast Encrypted USB Flash Drive Review

Storage/Other by stefan @ 2014-07-09

The KingFast Encrypted USB Key comes in 8GB, 16GB or 32GB capacities and for securing the internal data we have a keypad available, while the data stored is encrypted on the drive. Internal data encryption can be disabled if needed but after this procedure the data on the drive and password will be erased so the contents must be saved on another medium before the operation.

Conclusive Thoughts

While the device does not come with stellar data transfer rates, we would recommend it for storing sensitive data and using it only when necessary, while transferring other type of data via regular flash. The product features multiple encryption mechanisms and after entering up the unlock code we only have a limited time for connecting the drive to our PC, otherwise it will become locked again.

The drive unlock code can be freely customized and for additional durability we were able to spot the aluminum chassis, making it heavier than most products of the same type we have tested so far.

People which need such kind of device should be prepared to shell out about $103, which is not too accessible for home users, but should be alright for enterprise customers.
