The cost-efficient MQ01ABDXXX series from Toshiba comes with capacities between 250GB and 1TB, with one or two platters and were designed for low power consumption, operating temperatures and silent operation. These are ideal for upgrading the storage in our PS3, usage for saving backups and other applications which do not need stellar read/write speeds.
The MQ01ABD100 2.5’’ HDD sample from Toshiba has arrived in a bare-drive form, only enclosed inside a static-free bag:
This time we are dealing with a 5400RPM model, which is quiet thanks to the “Silent-Seek” technology and features low power consumption. The drive packs two platters, Advanced Format and also a 3Gb/s SATA interface:
On the top of the drive we will get to see the usual sticker which holds information regarding the product code name, manufacturing date, serial number and other technical specifications:
The drive comes with a height of 9.5mm and on the laterals we will get to see the mounting holes:
On the back we can find the SATA Data/Power connectors, along with four metallic pins:
The bottom side is mostly covered by the PCB, which also links to the central motor:
