The Ultrastar 7K4000 HDD series comes with capacities up to 4TB and is mostly aimed at enterprise environments by offering a rated 2M hours MTBF and a 5-year warranty. The drive comes with good performances, AF (4096-byte sector size) and uses a total of 5 platters, 800GB each.
Our Ultrastar 7K4000 sample has arrived in the test lab as a bare drive, fully sealed inside a moisture barrier bag:
A sticker is also present here with some serial numbers, the product code name, total capacity, but also the manufacturing date:
On the exterior, the drive is similar to the Deskstar 7K4000 drive and a white sticker is located in the middle to reveal more information:
Here we will locate most of the details which were also placed on the exterior packaging, but we’ll also find some extra like power rating:
On the back side of the drive we have the usual SATA Data/Power ports, but also two extra pins:
On the laterals we will get to see the mounting holes:
In the front the manufacturer has placed two barcodes:
On the bottom, we have the electrical board along with the 7200RPM motor contacts:
