Based on rubber domes, the new SteelSeries Apex keyboard comes with a lot of interesting features like the ActiveZone Lighting system, extra directional arrows, raised macro keys, 4 separate layers, anti-ghosting for the most frequently used keys in games and more.

A Closer Look Part II

Besides the keyboard, we will also receive a small product User Manual and a SteelSeries sticker:

 

 

 

 

The Apex keyboard is quite large and the wrist rest is non-removable:

 

 

 

On the left side we will locate the first set of programmable buttons, while on the top we have a key for each layer:

 

 

 

The Escape key is quite large and is placed near the layer buttons:

 

 

 

The same thing we can say about the Space key:

 

 

 

The SteelSeries key allows us to access special functions like “disable Windows key”:

 

 

 

We get to see a second set of macro keys near the Function keys which have a raised design. This will allow us to access them in an easier way:

 

 

 

The keys have printed on them the functions with a custom font; if we look more attentively at the directional keys, we will discover two more, which are placed there for more flexibility:

 

 

 

The NumLock, ScrollLock and CapsLock key LEDs are lighted and located near the larger SteelSeries logo:
