COBY Kyros Dual Core 8'' MID8065 Internet Tablet Review

After reviewing the MID8065, a COBY tablet from their latest generation, we could not help but notice the speedier 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor which makes the slowness when browsing websites almost non-existent (an issue we have found with the MID1045). Also, the battery life has been improved during standby since the firmware turns off completely Wi-Fi during this time and the 8’’ format is more compact during travel.

The Software Part I

The MID8065-8 tablet comes equipped with Android version number 4.0.4; this is a little bit old so we would expect the manufacturer to issue an update, to at least version 4.1.2. Besides the usual applications, on the desktop we will be able to see shortcuts to different other applications like Amazon Kindle, eMusic and so on:

 

 

 

When opening up the drawer, we will have access to all applications that are installed:

 

 

First, we have got Accuweather, the free version installed, which we can use to search for the latest reports:

 

 

The Amazon Kindle application will require a new account to which we will be able to login and actually use the benefits of the service:

 

 

The Camera application lets us take snapshots but as we have seen with the MID1045, the quality is not so great:

 

 

CloudLink offers us a set of best-in-class lineup of productivity apps; for it we need to create an additional account:

 

 

Google Earth application is familiar to most of us:

 

 

When running the Email application for the first time, we will be asked the user details:
