Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

The F.R.E.Q. 5 stereo headset from Mad Catz that we are looking at today is willing to complement the industrial, robotic design we have seen at their R.A.T. mice series or the S.T.R.I.K.E. keyboards. The packaging sports unusual shapes and looks pretty cool, with information all over the place. On the front we will see how the product really looks like, through the transparent plastic window:

On one of the sides, we will be able to see some of the technical specifications:

On the back side, we will be able to look on some of the headsets’ main components and what is unique is the fact that on the left side we are provided with a cut-out, through which we can see the detachable microphone:

For extra security, the box is sealed in multiple areas:

The sample we have received sports a glossy red color, but we can also choose from other variants like black, gloss black or white:

With the F.R.E.Q. 5, we get an interesting chassis design, which is a combination between lightweight metal components and plastic. The cups are able to rotate at 45 degrees and sport the Mad Catz logo on the exterior:

On the left cup we will get a MIC mute button:

While not using the microphone, the connector is covered by a plastic cap:

On the right side we have the audio cable:
