Others/Networking Gear by stefan @ 2013-04-11

The latest TEW-812DRU 802.11ac router from TRENDnet supports the latest IEEE 802.11ac standard, is dual band, sports four LAN Gigabit ports and an USB port with dual functionality (print server and storage). A new feature has been introduced to the firmware and that is the ability to host Guest Networks.

The Web GUI Part I

After logging in to the interface in our favorite browser, we will meet again with the familiar interface of the TRENDnet routers. The menu can be accessed from the left and the initial page that we are shown is the Status one:

If we want to configure the router in an easier manner, we can use the two provided wizards, one for the Internet Connection Setup and the other for the Wireless Security Setup:

In the Wide Area Network tab, we can specify the connection type (as we have been informed by our provider), but we can also choose a host name and DNS servers manually. Here we can also specify a custom MAC address:

Inside the Local Area Network Settings menu, we can specify the LAN address for the router and the DHCP Start/End IPs, but also the details for a Guest Network. In the same page we will be able to set DHCP reservations:

The Setup also lets us configure IPv6 Settings:

Next, we have the Quality of Service Settings menu:

Inside the DHCP Client List tab we can see a table of the devices that have been connected along with their details:

Inside the 2.4Ghz Wireless menu, we can modify the Basic Settings like SSID selection, Radio On/Off, Wireless N mode On/Off, SSID name, SSID Broadcast or current channel. In the same screen we can also type in the AP MAC Adresses for the WDS or choose the wireless channel bandwidth:

Some Advanced Wireless Settings are also available for the user to modify:

In the Security tab, we can choose the security mode, but also filter the stations by MAC:
