The new TL-WA850RE Universal Wireless N Range Extender from TP-LINK comes to eliminate the network dead spots in the areas we choose and has a compact form, does not require extra power adapter and can be also used as a wireless adapter for wired devices.

Initial Setup

After plugging the Extender into a wall socket and connecting it with the RJ45 cable to our PC, we can log in to its interface by typing http://tplinkextender.net . The default user/password will be used:

 

 

 

The initial setup will welcome us with a wizard, for configuring the product in an easy way:

 

 

 

The interface will first ask us our location, for Wireless frequencies usage purposes:

 

 

 

Next, the Extender will try to detect the nearby 2.4GHz networks:

 

 

 

The found networks will be shown with their name, signal level, the MAC, channel and their current security mode:

 

 

 

If the Wireless network is encrypted, we will have to type-in the password in the next screen, in order to allow the Range Extender to connect to it:

 

 

 

The settings summary screen will show last, and we only have to press on Finish and the Range Extender will reset in order to apply the settings:
