The new TL-WA850RE Universal Wireless N Range Extender from TP-LINK comes to eliminate the network dead spots in the areas we choose and has a compact form, does not require extra power adapter and can be also used as a wireless adapter for wired devices.

A Closer Look Contd.

The Quick Installation Guide is accompanied by a Declaration of Conformity, a leaflet about product recycling, a secondary leaflet regarding GNU General Public License Notice and a disk with the documentation in electronic format:

 

 

 

The design of the TL-WA850RE is modern and comes with a circle of status LEDs on the front, along with a central WPS button:

 

 

 

The Wireless LED should flash when the Wireless function has been enabled; we also have a Power LED, one Ethernet LED which flashes when there is activity on the network, the RE LED, which stays fully lit when the Range Extender has been connected successfully to the router and also 5 additional LEDs for signaling the signal strength:

 

 

 

On the bottom we have a Reset button and a single Ethernet port:

 

 

 

By looking on the back side of the device, we will see the hardware revision number; the sample we have received came with V1.20, so the firmware updates on the website are not applicable for our model yet:

 

 

 

After the device has been initialized and configured, the LED display will show us the status of the connection:
