SteelSeries Free Mobile Wireless Controller Review

The SteelSeries Free is a tiny controller that can be paired via Bluetooth to mobile phones, tablets but also PC/Mac. Mobile games which support the gamepad aren’t many but on the PC we can play most of the games which support X360 controllers.

SteelSeries Engine

To be able to use the controller on our PC, is it recommended to install the SteelSeries Engine application, which is present on the SS website; the configuration GUI comes with three tabs, and in the first one we are able to turn Mouse and Keyboard mode on/off. This mode is mostly for compatibility, to be used in games that do not offer native controller support:

 

 

 

For different type of games, we have some presets loaded into the software, which will auto-assign the best functions for the controller:

In the next “Settings” tab, we can customize the Dead Zone for each of the two joysticks:

 

 

 

In the Properties tab, we are able to name our newly created profile and assign an application to it:
