SteelSeries Free Mobile Wireless Controller Review

The SteelSeries Free is a tiny controller that can be paired via Bluetooth to mobile phones, tablets but also PC/Mac. Mobile games which support the gamepad aren’t many but on the PC we can play most of the games which support X360 controllers.

Packaging, A Closer Look

In this review we will look at another interesting product from SteelSeries, this time a tiny mobile wireless controller named “Free”; the controller is shipped inside an enclosure which permits us to see how the product looks like, without the need of unsealing the box or looking at some drawings:

 

 

 

On the back side of the box, we will see more product specifications, along with a description of the available buttons:

 

 

 

The gamepad is accompanied by its bundle:

 

 

 

What was there included separately? Well, we have an USB cable for charging the device, a SteelSeries sticker, one small leaflet, a carry pouch and also the Quick Start Guide:

 

 

 

The small leaflet explains the benefits of using the mobile and flexible “Free” controller:

 

 

 

Inside the Quick Start Guide we will get more information on how to pair the product with different platforms:

 

 

 

The “Free” controller is covered with a thin rubber compound, for getting a better grip; the top button layout reminds us of the PS3 DualShock 3 controller:
