Storage/SSD by stefan @ 2013-01-22

The F3 mSATA 3.0 SSDs from KingFast come in multiple storage variants and are especially made for fitting inside low profile HTPCs, high-end ultrabooks or light notebooks. Thanks to the included mSATA to SATA adapter which is included inside the packaging, we can also use the product inside any desktop PC.

Packaging, A Closer Look

The mSATA 3.0 SSD that we will review from KingFast also takes part from the F3 series and features a similar packaging to the previously tested product from them. On the front side of the box we will get some information regarding the product specifications:

The back side will let us know of the KingFast contact information:

The outside layer hides another enclosure, which holds the SSD along with its bundle:

Besides the warranty card, KingFast have also included a very handy mSATA to 2.5’’ SATA adapter, which can be used when our PC does not feature a mSATA slot:

Also here we will also find the SSD, which is not wrapped in any type of protective material:

Here are some views of the adapter we have mentioned earlier. The adapter requires two small screws for fixing the SSD onto the board:

The mSATA SSD is really tiny and the NAND Flash along with the controller are covered with stickers. The frontal side comes with two NAND flash chips:

After the removal of the Q.C. Passed small sticker, we will reveal the same Sandforce as on the regular F3, SF-2281VB1 SSD controller:

On the back side we’ll find two additional NAND Flash chips:

The mSATA 3.0 SSD can be installed into the adapter by simply inserting it into the connector, at a 45 degree angle and then pressing it down. The SSD will be fixed only after we secure it with two small screws (not included in the original package):
