The LIVESTRONG themed case from Otterbox takes part of their Commuter Series of cases and it comes with two layers, made from silicone and a durable polycarbonate outer shell. Conclusive Thoughts

The LIVESTRONG themed case from Otterbox takes part of their Commuter Series of cases and, as you have seen from the review contents, it comes with two layers, made from silicone and a durable polycarbonate outer shell. The case is also accompanied by a clear self-adhering protective film for the front touch screen of our iPhone 4/4S mobile phone.

The case is meant to protect against accidental bumps or shocks, but is not water proof. Thanks to the outside polycarbonate outer shell with a smooth finish, the phone is easy to remove from the pocket and it does not stick like other cases do.

For creating the LIVESTRONG case, Otterbox have teamed up with RadioShack to support their mission which is to inspire and empower anyone affected by cancer. By purchasing this case will provide funding for RadioShacks' $6 million commitment to support LIVESTRONG and fight against cancer.

LIVESTRONG is a registered trademark of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The case can be acquired from their online store for about $39.95.

I would like to thank again to Otterbox for making this review possible!

is it any different from the Commuter series ?
Looks identical to me? (except for the apple logo cut-out)

the rubber part protecting the headphone socket broke after 8 months; the rubber that protecting the dock connector is starting to wear also now and becomes harder to remove. I can understand that covering those holes will help with dust buildup, but iPHone 4S requires daily charging, so that makes for heavy usage of that tab, and if you like to listing to audio... several times a day that tab for headphone was used.

I bought Commuter and Defender in April 2012. I ended up using the Commuter daily with iPhone 4S. Will post some pics this evening of the state of the case and iphone which was placed brand new into the commuter case.

Indeed, this is only a themed variant.

delayed pics of the otterbox commuter; the hard plastic shell hardly suffered, the rubber inside protection doesn't stand the test of time as well... remember.. less than 1 year old

rubber cap protecting 3.5mm headphone jack completely deteriorated from open/closing several times a day, up to the point it tore off. The cap protecting the dock connector isn't that far off from suffering the same fate and it becomes increasingly harder to operate as the rubber is chipped away by daily use.

the hard shell looks like new however

of course what it comes down to is protection and that is still does marvelously, I have dropped the phone a few times (not on purpose) and nothing has broken (yet)

the case does leave traces on the phone... will take pics of those later
