OZONE Gaming Gear Radon Opto Mouse Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2012-11-12

The Radon Opto is an affordable mouse from OZONE that can be had for 34.90 Euros from CaseKing.de, sporting an Avago 3090 optical sensor with the ability to adjust DPI from 450 to 3500 and has larger footprints compared to the average mice. The downloadable software allows us to configure the mouse further, by setting macros, keyboard shortcuts, different multimedia functions and more.

The Software Interface

To gain access to the advanced Radon Opto mouse functions, we can either install the drivers from the disk or download them from the manufacturers' website:

The software uses an InstallShield installer, which is easy to use:

The GUI is not as good looking as we have seen at other brands like SteelSeries, ROCCAT or Razer, but it is quite functional; with it we can navigate through profiles, save them on file or modify the currently available button functions:

The currently selected profile will be signaled by the top selector button:

Macros can be also assigned to the mouse buttons; when selecting the respective option, an extra EDIT button will appear:

Clicking on it will reveal the Macro Editor, where we can create and edit macros on our choice (the macros have a limited number of key recordings):

From the button menus we can also see functions like "Emulated Keyboard" or Emulated Hid:

By using the Emulated Keyboard function, we can assign to a button one combination of keys:

Emulated Hid will allow us to access some of the Windows functions like multimedia controls:

The interface also comes with a second "Config" tab, which is pretty straight forward; from here we can choose how many DPI steps we want to have (4 is a maximum) and each level can be configured with a predefined value; also here we can adjust the USB Report Rate:

Depending on the DPI step we are in, a number of LEDs will light up on the top of the mouse:
